Demo Stamp Camp with Paula Goff

It's a special treat this time of year when Paula Goff comes to Lake Havasu City. Paula vacations here every year. The local Stampin Up Demonstrators get together and we have our own little stamp camp. Paula shows us so many fun things. Who doesn't like getting together and playing all day!!!!!! There were 7 of us total. My batteries were DEAD!!!! AGAIN.. so I got these pics from Jan.. she is missing from the picture but you can check out her blog .. she is a wonderful stamper.
Here I am showing some of the great things that Paula brought to share with us...

We made memory books and they were so cute.. Linda and I are showing you the insides.. Oh and we called to ahead to see what to wear...LOL not really but we were wearing the same color shirts and cropped jeans.

My pictures won't go where I want them to.... and the blog has changed and is typing out in all the letters, I didn't change anything that I know of.. actually thought I was getting the hang of this.. LOL I have a busy week ahead getting things ready so I can leave for CA Friday.. my sister is throwing me a 50th Birthday Party.. can't wait some friends and family will be there. I will buy extra batteries so there will pics to share.

I have a couple sewing projects that will be posted soon also. I hope you all have a great week and find time to relax and do what makes you happy.

I GOT AN UGLY MUG AWARD!!!

I got an award for doing something that makes me happy.. Brenda says I am creative.. WOOHOO! Thank you Brenda
OMG! I received an Ugly Mug Award from Brenda It's a wonderful award, it honors "any blogger who crafts, sews, quilts - you know, makes stuff - no matter how crappy (or how good). A way to say - I like your blog, like your stuff, and I'm pretty sure you have a good sense of humor." and was created by Megan at The Bitchy Stitcher.
Now I will pass it along to three creative bloggers that keep me wishing I could skip more of my "to do" and add more to my "I did it!" list!
I am a little behind on posting this award... I have been sooo busy being creative.. LOL I actually have had stamp classes and quilt classes and even a yard sale. So now I need to pick 3 people I feel inspire me.. well, that is very easy. There are way more than 3 though.. so when you don't see your name here it's not because you aren't creative it's because there just isn't enough room.. .. ..
1. Sharon, Red Geranium Cottage - Sharon's blog is a pick me up anytime you read it. She is a wiz with the camera. Never ( most never ) does she forget her camera at any event. She is always going somewhere, having PJ parties and making gifties for all her sistas or quilting on Miss Daisy. Her DH even gets in the action with his woodworking. She always says something to make you chuckle.

2. Kim's Big Quilting Adventure - OH MY this woman doesn't stop! Between thrift shops, work, quilting, canning, vacationing, decorating, classes you name it she is doing it. The woman has a sense of humor too!!. I missed blogging a couple days and she was saving the nation... LOL

3. Paula, Inking Addict - hence the name, Paula is the most talented of stampers. I met Paula thru stamping but to my surprise she is also a great quilter. We were meeting as a stamp group while she was vacationing here in Lake Havasu and low and behold.. I found her hanging out for the week at our local quilt store. She helped make quilts for our comfort quilt group to help homeless kids Plus sewed on quilts of her own. Paula, is a great stamper and shares her ideas once a year with a group of us stampin up demonstrators. Check out Paula's Blog!

I have some projects lined up this weekend and will post pics Sunday!

Pumpkins...

Tonight I went to our Demo meeting. Diane demonstrated this card.. I just love it. It's vellum embossed in a cuttlebug folder then we rubbed chalks on the vellum. The inside is a circle spiral and we just added the pumpkins to it to make a pop up inside.
Not much to talk about in the sewing room. I have stamp class this Friday and we are doing some great bags, tags, boxes and bows for gift giving.

Polka Dot Spoilin............ Good Mail Day!!

Well happy Saturday for ME! The doorbell rang and the postman had a box in his hands and pointed down on the porch where he had two more.. WOOOOO and HOOOOOO!!!
The first package was some fabric I got for grandma so she could finish the friendship braid she is making... She used Dandelion Girls from Moda. When she is done I will share a picture....
OH BOY.. then look at my little shelf. I am soooooooooooo please with how it turned out.. Sharon's hunka is making them.

The background is one of the quilts I am going to teach in a couple weeks.
Then............I opened the next box.. I didn't recongize the return address and I said OH YEAHHHHH it must be my Polka Dot Swap.. and yes it was.. I can't tell you how very spoiled I was by Carol. I opened a very cute polka dot pumpkin card....I kept pulling gift after gift out.. This is what I got..
the table runner is AWESOME!
I love the rick rack and I love the B O O buttons.. It's like Carol has known me forever.. I enjoy drinking out of BIG mugs and I LOVE scones... and Apple Cider Mix too. I can't wait to make them and serve them on the polka dot plates with Cider. Carol THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL MY GIFTS.. I also know you ripped I appreciate every little stitch the table runner will be on my table and on it will be my pumpkin candle plate and shade the rest of the fall season. My polka dot swap is still in progress but I will share pics this next week ... nooooo, I can't tell you who my partner is.. that wouldn't be fair now would it.. hehehehehehe.

Stamping Fun with Friends.........

I had a big stamping weekend.. Friday we just played with die cut machines like the Big Shot. It's new to Stampin Up' but many people have one kind or another. My camera batteries were dead so no pictures from Friday.. don't tell Sharon she is the best with her camera. I hear she is having a giveaway too.. so jump over and see what she is up to!! Back to stamping.. LOL Saturday night I had a workshop with 6 wonderful girls. This is what they made:

Santa is a mini candy bar cover.. isn't he just too cute! It's mostly using different punches. We put glitter all around the flowers that make his beard and the rim of his hat. The card is a simple monochramatic technique using Barely Banana colors and the sentiment says You are one of a kind.....just too easy peasy. Who doesn't love those little nugget chocolate candies?????? We dressed them up with some stamped cardstock. They used Halloween paper though and I didn't get pictures of those. I get alot of ideas from SU Bloggers and they are CASE's (Copy and Share Everything) Next month they are going to learn how to make the little matchbox to hold the nuggets. All made from cardstock. I demoed a Frankie bag that will be made at the Oct 17th class. It will be themed Bags, Tags, Boxes and Bows. He was loved by all I will put his picture up after that class. I demoed a Christmas card that will be part of the Christmas Stamp a STack that will be Nov 7. Stay tuned to see the future projects we make. If you are not in my area we now offer Stampin Up Online Ordering.. just click the icon on my sidebar and your order will be delivered right to you house. I have some sewing to finish today so I better get to it.........

Bag Swap and Another Class Sample.

The weekend was full of sewing for me. I got a message from my partner Melinda from Linda's Bag and Bucket Swap that her swap arrived. I made this Santa Bag there was sneak peek in an earlier blog but I didn't say what it was. It's from Nancy Halvorsen Santa's Coming. Just as Santa's sack had goodies in it so did hers. I had so much fun making it. Melinda is happy too!

This is another one of my patterns I will be teaching. This pattern is so fun and easy. It was requested the class sample be made in reproduction fabrics. I will also be teaching Charms on Point. This is very exciting for me.

Short post tonight. I hope you had a great weekend and had time to do what makes you happy!!

I wasn't going to unsew it all sooooo I got a scrappy version. I will put the borders on and show the finished goods tomorrow . I will post the way the pattern says to sew the blocks also. I hope you had time to do some sewing too!

Just News...

Tonight was our guild meeting. Havasu Stitchers. This last year we held a BOM for the Underground Railroad. Each month we would get the directions for a new block and if you brought it back completed you got a raffle ticket to win a prize. It was alot of fun and tonight there were 3 quilt tops .. the other two were too blurry to show. They are starting a new one next month called Atlantis.

We do a thing called brown bag swap. You put 4-6 fat qtrs into a brown lunch bag. Everyone that participates gets back a bag with the name of whose fabrics are in the bag and what type of item they might like you to make. You can add fabrics to it if you like. This is my first time doing it. I am very happy with the fabrics I get to work with.. they are batiks... I LOVE BATIKS..I am very confident I will make something very nice for my secret brown bag swapper.

We are preparing for the Havasu Quilt show to be held Nov 2009. It's a pretty big show for a small town. If you are in town we would love to see you there. Also, in Jan we have our annual Quilters Gone Wild At The Lake event. I will have more next post on that we get a couple National teachers to come. It's open to the public so come back in a couple days to view the details.

I am very excited to be teaching this fall for our locals and winter visitors. I will be teaching on Saturdays since I am not retired and still working.. UGGGHHH.. Not time for me yet....The samples will be posted in the next week. Next post will contain more pics!!!

Disaster, Airmail and a BIG SURPRISE!!

I come home for lunch most everyday... today when I drove up the street I noticed my trash was everywhere... yes EVERYWHERE, I only wish I was quick with the draw and took a pic... I guess we had a 10 min wind storm and it took my trash cans from around the garage and whipped them down the street.. My wonderful neighbor... AKA my grandma, went down the hill to retrieve my trash cans and bags and got as far as the driveway... she is soooo sweet. My first thought is I have no idea what the hurricane victims must go thru.. I was dealing with a few trash cans... My heart goes out to them and hope they find fast relief...
Another thing I do at lunch is grab the mail... I saw this package:
I noticed the stamps said Australia... I said to myself, who have I talked to from there??? I had no idea, I already had lost some time picking up the trash so I thought I better get lunch together first... then I said NOOOO I want to know what is in that package...LOL It was this beautifully wrapped package....Again, I started to get my lunch so I could sit down and finish opening the gift, lunch was in the microwave and .. well... you know what happened.. I tore it open and I got the surprise of my life.... It was my my bag from Linda's bag swap, I must tell you a story though.. I am very new at all this and was in one other swap before this one.. in that swap the person I mailed to also mailed to me.. I guess I thought that is how they worked...LOL I was expecting a package from Georgia.. SO, I really had no clue what was in the package.. Here it is>>>>>>>>
KERRY>> THANK YOU!!!!
I love my bag! There was a wonderful card that looks like Iris paper folding. Kerry's note said she browsed my blog to see what things I like... first do you see on the left>>
that little dragonfly zipper pull.. HOW DID SHE KNOW I LOVE DRAGONFLIES??? I really do!
Also, included where some scrapbooking stickers. The lovely friendship panel, a fat quarter pattern. Also, Kerry included a flyer about where she is from I thought that was such a great idea. In the note she said "Hope I have succeeded" YES YES YES>> THANK YOU AGAIN
Kerry, if you have email or a blog please send it my way!! azkimbo@yahoo.com
Linda, I had so much fun and boy was I surprised.. I won't try to guess anymore who or what...LOL
Well, to end my day I wanted to tell you I am sooo excited even more.. Tuesday I was invited to attend the Textile Show in Las Vegas with my friend Turtle. I will take pictures and report back this will be my first time doing this.. I guess the closest thing to compare would be Road to CA. Only I get to meet the fabric reps and help her pick fabric.. WOOOHOOOO!!!! AND we get a free lunch.

I had a wonderful suprise when I arrived home for lunch today. There was a parcel package on my porch. YEAHHHH I love mail! My cupcake swap arrived from Brenda and it was in a good size box... I hurried to open it and OHHH I was SOOOOOOOOO HAPPY! Look at all my goodies..

I hope you can see I have to stop using DH's camera I don't know know how to use it..LOL Well, cupcake mix, sprinkles, papers, book, that new type of pan with the rubber cup inserts, Can't wait to use it.. and do you see the carousel.. I love it! Also the Bunny Hill Pattern and charms. Thank you so much Brenda!! THANK YOU Sharon for hosting this fun swap.

I think it says and more.. yes it does. I was in another swap Linda's Bag Swap. I can't show you a picture yet because my partner hasn't received it yet... I will also post when mine arrives.. I heard it was on they way.. :) :)

Now with both of those done, I couldn't say no to Sharon's new swap. She is doing a Polka Dots & Rick Rack swap in honor of Cheryl . It's a secret who your partner is soooo I can show my progess as I go because my partner won't know.. that's pretty sneaky huh!! So keep a watch out. There's more.. I am doing a sample for my friend Karen's online quilt store. She just got Moda's Fabulous Fall by Deb Strain. It's so beautiful!! Jelly Rolls, Charms and there is a panel too.

Meet Turtle... my friend, and the giveaway!

It's a great day! The AC is STILL working.. :) I believe today was a little cooler at 110. I have so much to catch up on. One project is my table runner from summer camp .. remember I didn't get the borders on. I wanted to introduce you to Turtle. She was my partner at summer camp, we had such a great time. Here

she is working on her runner. It was red, white and blue on

one side and Christmas on

the other.

Karen is her AKA and she is the owner of Havasu Quilts an online web store. Karen has the table runner patterns. I will be making some store samples for Turtle that I will be sharing with you as I work on them.

She has new fabric, books and patterns every

week added to her website!

Did you hear me say giveaway... well, check it out here. I have some stamping to finish before I get to bed....

Stamp Class, Did I say H O T????

As you know my AC went out way back on Thursday. I was scheduled to hold my monthly rubber stamp class on Friday. I started to call the girls and postpone it.. well, they weren't going to let me off that easy.. LOL My good friend Tiffany offered her home to me so we could have class.. It was a great time. I didn't get many pictures as I was out of sorts. We made a couple projects, one of them was this note holder and some notes. That is Tiffany there holding her creations. I hold my class the 3rd Friday night of every month. If you would ever like to join in come on over.

Today they finally came out and fixed my AC... we are fortunate to have family in town and were able to sleep cool at least. I only have a short post tonight since I have to try to get the house back in order. I will be back tomorrow to post again and tell you about a giveaway I saw and introduce to another friend of mine.

Summer Quilt Camp/Laughlin!!

We had a blast at camp! We sewed, we ate, we gambled ( well some of us ) and fun was had by all 41 of us.
This is a pic of .. yes me, there ya go now you know the face behind the typing. I am holding my table runner without the borders on yet. After I got it together my border was too light and got lost. I will be putting the border on and showing it finished later. I chose to do the star you could also do a tumbling block. Some of the girls thought the block was easier.
Remember my last post when I was sewing all those strips? Well we took those strips and you weave them in a special form to create these stars.. it was well.. to some not much fun.. we all managed to get through it though. Here is a pic up close you see the star formation from the weaving.
This is Ms. Susie. Susie hosted our camp and had helpers. She had lots of fun, games and prizes. I took her picture with the samples she and some others made to show us how the finished project would look. Susie is just as sweet as can be.

Posted by PicasaThis is from left to right, Judy, Loretta and Susie. They were so great. Running around helping everyone, keeping us all on time to our meals and handing out prize after prize... I actually won... a 54X70 piece of warm and natural!! I was very excited. Now just need to sandwhich it ....

I have been trying to get everything organized. I am working on several projects and need to stay on track... do any of you have tips on how you do that? I have my cupcake swap, my applique sampler for my freinds website and ALL my WIP's ... plus, now I will be helping with next years camp. I was very happy that they wanted me to be a helper. this picture to the left is a quilt that one of the girls brought to work on after she finished her runner... isn't it just too cute. I love the 30's fabrics. I did some fast block with a charm pack.. I am sure you have seen it before. Take your charms and make a nine patch, cut down the middle and across the middle and you have 4 new blocks to arrange how you like. When I get the borders on I will post a pic. I have talked your ear off enough for one night. I will be back! Until then...

Keep Smiling!
